Week 7: GAME Plan

The GAME Plan has brought several grate ideas forth for me to use in my classroom. I have enjoyed learning about the GAME Plan and plan on using it as the 2010-2011 school year grows near. What I enjoy about the GAME Plan is the structure it provides me as a teacher and my students. I feel much more confident now having students set goals and a plan to achieve those goals. Personally, I feel that I need to use it more in my professional life before I completely deploy it for my students to use.

Overall, using the GAME Plan helps me as a teacher to teach students more about being problem based learners. Creativity is also strongly enhanced by using this tool, which in my 5th grade class is a definite area that needs improvement.

Just as many of the concepts I have gained through my classes at Walden have assisted me in being a better instructor, this class will only add to my success!

I am in the same boat that you are in. I need to practice a bit more before I can expect my students to do the things we have learned. On the other hand I have learned in the past that sometime if you jump right in with both feet and have low expectations you may learn more from the students that first year than if you practice more yourself. Students are a great resource to learn from. You will be able to figure out what works and doesn't work and apply those stategies for the following year.

  2. Travis,
I understand wanting to master your own skills before making your students do it. I hope that when you do have your students make and follow game plans, that it does help make your students problem-based learners...and I think it might.

  3. I like what you had to say regarding the Game plan creating structure in the classroom. When I am working with my students I always try to remain structured with curriculum. I find that structure is a universal need for students having IEPs. So, if having a Game plan will continue this pattern and better my teaching I am all for it.

    Good luck with your plans.

  4. Travis,
I like that you will use the GAME plan to structure learning and will revisit the plan to evaluate progress. I think it is really neat that we get opportunities to apply the technology in our classes. I know by having to create voicethreads, use wikis, blogs, etc I am gaining the skills in my classes that I need to be successful in using them in my classroom. Of course no matter how well I feel I prepare,I feel that I learn the most when I actually implenet the lesson in class.
